Living here in Nashville my entire life it’s inevitable to hear so many stories of people sharing their life’s sorrows and happiness via music. I rarely review CDs but was honored to receive an advance review copy of Dove Award-winning Contemporary Christian group Selah’s latest CD, You Deliver Me.
The CD includes the very touching I Will Carry You (Audrey’s Song), an absolutely beautiful tribute written in honor of Audrey Caroline, the baby girl of Selah member Todd Smith who lived just a few hours after a difficult pregnancy. I knew the story behind Audrey’s Song and honestly could not listen to it without cryin. Todd’s wife Angie has chronicled the heartbreak and joy of losing their baby daughter due to complications discovered at their routine 18-month ultrasound checkup. Despite all the tragedy that rocked their world, their family pulled together and they found peace and joy and learned to thank God through the most heartbreaking of situations. Angie blogged about her experience as a mother to three little girls who was only granted a short amount of precious time with their fourth little girl on Bring The Rain. Her honest writing has inspired thousands of parents who have become fans of her blog.
Selah, which just celebrated their 10th anniversary, has won the Dove Award for “Inspirational Album of the Year” four times and has repeatedly hit No.1 at Christian radio. In addition to Todd Smith (vocals), the group includes Allan Hall (piano/vocals) and Amy Perry. You can listen to clips from their newly released CD on the Selah official website. In addition to new songs, the CD includes great renditions of old favorites, like Standing on the Promises (my favorite from the CD…it has a GREAT beat.)

I’ve loved Selah for a long time now. Their Christmas cd is awesome. Plus, my husband is from Zimbabwe so I love that they have that African connection. Would like to hear “I Will Carry you (Audrey’s Song).”

Selah’s music is such a blessing to me. I am looking forward to hearing all the songs on the album. “Standing on the Promises” jumps out at me, and I have been anticipating “I Will Carry You” for some time.
