Healthy Habits Kids Plate Giveaway
Karen R., who commented, “What a cute plate! Rylee loves mashed potatoes and corn but we plan to expand on that soon,” is the winner! Thanks to everyone for entering.
I remember sitting in a dark kitchen, the dishwasher humming in the background, while my mother waited for me to eat my broccoli. Some things never change. I have a difficult time getting my girls to eat their veggies. Today’s kids, especially, are bombarded with slick advertising campaigns for sugary treats. To sweeten the pot, so to speak, they’re often pimped by their favorite TV characters. I mean how can my girls resist Barbie or Hello Kitty Pop-Tarts?
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about one-third of all U.S. children are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight.
Stay-at-home mom Amy Roskelley developed the Healthy Habits Kids Plate to encourage other parents to make healthy eating simple and fun. Amy has a degree in health education and worked for the Utah Health Department for eight years prior to becoming a mom. The Healthy Habits Kids Plate, which retails for $5.99, is divided into three sections. Cartoon fruits, vegetables, breads, meat, and dairy products are arranged in the portions that your child should eat.

Visit www.superhealthykids.com for healthy eating ideas and to order plates. My girls love their plate and it encourages discussion at the dinner table about healthy foods. It’s 100% melamine, making it kid proof and dishwasher safe.
For a chance to win a Healthy Habits Kids plate, comment on this post and tell me your child’s favorite fruits or vegetable. For two entries, subscribe to the Savvy Housewife RSS Feed (see the handy button in the upper right hand corner of the blog.) A random winner will be chosen from all eligible comments (U.S. residents only) left by midnight Friday, June 6.
