My 5-year-old loved the bright and festive KinderCone. She loved the cone as much as the contents (especially the temporary tattoos) and used her imagination to turn it into a big hat, a mermaid tale, and a trumpet!
My youngest daughter starts kindergarten this August and just finished attending pre-K at daycare. She’s so excited to finally be at the “big school” with her big sister, not to mention having her own backpack and lunch box. You know girls…any excuse to shop.
We were sent a fun new product celebrating elementary school called the KinderCone.
The KinderCone brings the German tradition of Schultüte, which celebrated its 200th anniversary in February, into the lives of American children. In Germany and Austria the first day of school is a day of celebration and appreciation. Families present their first grader with their very own Schultüte which is filled with little gifts, treats, and school supplies. Vivian Lie, a mom to four daughters who was born and raised in Munich, Germany, founded KinderCone in 2008 so American families could carry on this special European tradition.
The KinderCone is a great way to celebrate the first day of first grade or kindergarten graduation. My daughter will have pre-K graduation next week and I told her her special gift, which includes a notebook for recording special memories for 1st grade and a cute plush KinderCone kitty cat, was to celebrate her officially being out of pre-K. This would be such a fun tradition to start with your family. I think it would be especially fun to fill your cone with little trinkets and candy on the first day of school each year during the elementary school years (in fact I may do that in mid-August when school starts for both my 3rd grader and kindergartner.) The KinderCone retails for $24.99 and there are mini versions available as well, which would be cute on your child’s plate at the breakfast table on the first day of school this fall.
I’m always looking for ways to encourage fun and learning and KinderCone is a unique way to celebrate an important milestone.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of KinderCone and received a KinderCone sample to facilitate my review. Mom Central also sent me gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.
