Halloween Party Store Makes Costume Hunting Easy

Filed under: Savvy Holidays — admin at 4:36 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2008

If your kids are like mine, they’ve been talking about Halloween for weeks already. Have you bought their  costumes yet? Now that it’s officially October I’m really thankful I already have ours in hand (I just have to hide them away from the girls until the big night.) Last year I had to pull a Mommy MacGyver, however, when my oldest daughter changed her mind about her costume and I made a snow princess costume from a beautiful floor length ice blue dress I found at Goodwill and some silver glitter snowflake ornaments from the Dollar Tree.

Check out the Halloween Party Store for all your costume needs. They sent us this gorgeous Disney Aurora costume for my 3-year-old, as well as an adorable Tinkerbelle costume for my 6-year-old.

They have a huge assortment of costumes ranging from baby to adult sizes. The Halloween Party Store website is very easy to navigate and if you don’t have time to channel your inner Martha Stewart and make your kids’ costumes, than ordering them online is easy, painless, and devoid of any white trash WalMart mama moments when your child and another child spot the same coveted Hannah Montana costume…and it’s the last one to be found within a 5-mile radius.

The best part about ordering now from the Halloween Party Store is their free shipping deal for orders of $75 or more. Happy shopping!

Dress Your Spook In A Prissy Poof

Filed under: Savvy Child, Savvy Holidays, Savvy Wear — admin at 8:25 am on Friday, September 12, 2008

The ultimate dress up day, Halloween, will be here before you know it! If you have little girls like me, you know they love anything twirly and sparkly. My oldest daughter started taking ballet this summer so the tutu factor is alive and well at our house.

Prissy Poofs, based in South Carolina, features the most fabulous line of tutus that any little girl would love. Their line of Spooky Poofs would be perfect for this Halloween. Even the tiniest little girl can wear a Prissy Poof as they come in sizes ranging from newborn to child’s large (7/8). They sent my girls each a poof and I have put them aside for Christmas since they are so adorable. I know they will love them!

Each week between now and Halloween, Prissy Poofs will feature a different poof on sale. This week’s featured poof is the adorable Lucky Pony Poof, which comes with a fun headband.

I also love the little devil poof. There are days, nay weeks, that this would be very appropriate for my 3-year-old!

Order an adorable Prissy Poof for your little girl now through October 15 and enter code SPOOKY at checkout for 15% off your purchase. And with the holidays just around the corner, be sure to check out their seasonal line. So what are you waiting for? Get your poof on!

Tiny Tag Designs Personalized Jewelry, Just In Time For Grandparents Day

Filed under: Savvy Holidays, Savvy Wear — admin at 7:27 am on Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Grandparents Day is September 7. Have you bought a present yet?

If you’re looking for a unique piece of personalized silver jewelry, Tiny Tag Designs carries a wonderful line of silver bracelets and necklaces. The silver discs are hand-stamped. I have a two-disc necklace with the names of my daughters and I can honestly say I’ve worn it nearly every day since it arrived in the mail. It’s a nice, understated piece of casual jewelry that looks great with a t-shirt and jeans or a solid-colored sundress. So much of the personalized jewelry on the market geared toward moms and grandmothers is more formal, so Tiny Tag Designs is a great line for those who want a casual piece of jewelry.

Tiny Tag Designs is advertising on Savvy Housewife this week.

Click on the Tiny Tag Designs ad in the upper right corner of the Savvy Housewife sidebar and check out the special 20% discount code for Savvy Housewife readers! While you’re ordering a present for Grandparents Day, you might just want to order a little something for yourself, you know while you’re at it.

Your Savvy July 4th Guide

Filed under: Savvy Child, Savvy Eats and Drinks, Savvy Holidays, Savvy Sites and Links, Savvy Wear — admin at 7:08 am on Friday, June 27, 2008

July 4th will be here before you know it. Savvy Housewife has pulled together the best Web guide to guarantee your holiday will be festive, stress free, and fun.

Throwing a backyard bash? Here are some links to get you inspired:

Send out invites via Pingg.com, a new online event management and invitation site featuring stylish, swanky invites (no corny clip art here)

Recipes, craft ideas, printables, and how to videos from Family Fun magazine.

Fireworks art project from ParentsConnect (great for kids age 3 and up)

Martha’s July 4th how-tos.

Patriotic Party Menu from Kraft Foods.

This red, white, and blue ice cream cake from Epicurious looks absolutely divine.

Festive Starfruit Cocktail Garnishes and Fun 4th Of July Cocktails from Hostess Blog.

These glory dishtowels from Crate and Barrel would be a lovely hostess gift.

Now that you’re set on food and drink, you need something to wear. At some point you outgrow your mother’s whim to deck you out like Old Glory for the 4th, but it’s still a great excuse to shop.

These twirly tutus from Etsy seller Zoes Couture Boutiqe are perfect for your little Miss Firecracker.

Patriotic Posies hair clips from Etsy seller Cute And Sweet are just that

I love this fun and funky capri set from CWD Kids.

A hippy dippy tie-dyed t-shirt is great for boys too cool to dress like Uncle Sam.

This crab crate navy T-shirt is also a good color scheme for boys reticent to deck out for the 4th.

These star espadrilles for girls are on sale at CWD Kids and make me long to be little.

Baby sister would make a splash in this patriotic bikini and at what other point in a girl’s life will she look stunning in stripes?

This smocked bandana print top from Old Navy screams summer, not Yankee Doodle Dandy.

An understated red and navy striped button down for Dad will carry him through cool summer evenings.

Don’t forget the classic navy sundress (like this one from J Crew).
