Take two frazzled parents, toss in a $25 Bonefish Grill gift certificate, send the kids to their grandparents, and you have the ingredients for a perfect date night.
The hubby and I are both huge HUGE fresh seafood lovers, but being landlocked in Tennessee we don’t always have the chance to have it for dinner.
We’ve never tried Bonefish Grill, although I have heard great things about it. I was approached by the restaurant to participate in their challenge. They sent us a $25 gift certificate to use at Bonefish Grill, and a $25 gift certificate to use at one of our favorite restaurants (we chose Bricktops on West End here in Nashville.)
The review got off to a rocky start because I had no idea Bonefish Grill is not open for lunch during the week. The hubby and I made lunch date plans last month and they fell through when we called for directions en route to Bonefish Grill and I realized that they were closed for lunch. However, it all ended up fine as we were overdue for a date night and we went on a recent weekend night while our girls were with their grandparents.
First of all we were both very impressed with our server. He had no idea we were there doing a review or that we had a gift certificate, but he was very knowledgeable and told us quite a bit about Bonefish Grill’s unique points as soon as we told him we were first timers. I didn’t realize that Bonefish Grill uses white oak on their grill. Also, the seafood they serve is never frozen.
I kicked things off by ordering a pomengrante martini, which was excellent and not too sweet as some fruit martinis can be. We loved the bread and dipping oil, although the plate for the dipping oil seemed very tiny. It was delicious and we could have kept eating the bread. Our service was timely and everything was cooked to perfection. I ordered the small salmon dinner with a lemon butter sauce and au gratin potatoes and steamed broccolli as my side items. The flavor was amazing! The hubby ordered pecan encrusted tilapia with French green beans and au gratin potatoes (definitely a winner.) Both our entrees were less in the $12 to $16 range and the quality of the food, as well as the general ambience in the restaurant, was cozy, warm, with an upscale feel, but not stuffy. We also splurged and ordered the ahi tuna sashimi appetizer, which is absolutely to die for if you are a sushi lover…lick the plate to die for.
All in all, I would say the quality of the food as well as the entire dining experience from start to finish at Bonefish Grill is exceptional for the menu price range. Bricktops is more of a lunch date/business networking restaurant, whereas I’d recommend Bonefish for a date night.
Thanks Bonefish Grill for the opportunity! We’ll be back, especially since we didn’t order dessert and you offer two of my all-time favorites: key lime pie and crème brulee.
